Over the last few months in 2024 and 2025, there have been numerous motorcyclists killed across South Carolina, and there have been a particularly high number of deaths in upstate SC including in Anderson, Spartanburg, and Greenville Counties.

Motorcyclists Killed in Anderson County, SC

In recent months, there have been at least four fatal motorcycle crashes in Anderson County, SC.

Fatal Crash in Belton, SC

Sunday night, the driver of an SUV “attempting to turn into a private residence” collided with a motorcycle, killing the motorcyclist:

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man died in a motorcycle crash Sunday night in Anderson County.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the incident occurred after 7 p.m. on the 800 block of Anderson Street in Belton. Troopers said an SUV traveling west was attempting to turn into a private residence when it was hit by the motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist died at the scene.

The Anderson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 35-year-old Tommy Kevin Hamby, of Belton. It was reported that Hamby died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries secondary to blunt force trauma.

The crash remains under investigation by the SCHP.

Motorcyclist Killed by 18-Wheeler in Anderson, SC

A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with an 18-wheeler tractor-trailer on Belton-Anderson Highway last month:

ANDERSON, S.C. —

The Anderson County Coroner’s Office responded to a fatal crash outside the Anderson city limits on Friday.

The coroner said a Yamaha motorcycle collided with 2000 Freightliner Tractor-Trailer on Belton-Anderson Highway at Estes Drive around 4 p.m.

According to the coroner, the motorcyclist was attempting to turn onto Belton-Anderson Highway from Estes Drive and struck the trailer of a semi-truck.

The coroner said it appears the 18-wheeler slowed down to make a turn when the victim struck the side of the trailer. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The victim died at the scene. The tractor-trailer’s driver was not injured.

The Anderson County Fire Department, Medshore Ambulance Service, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina Highway Patrol, South Carolina State Transport Police and the coroner responded to the incident.

The coroner identified the victim as 45-year-old Dale Vance Suttles Jr. of Anderson.

Motorcyclist Killed in Easley, SC

A man involved in a motorcycle crash in Anderson County, SC, last October, tragically passed away a month after the crash:

ANDERSON CO., S.C. (FOX Carolina) – On Saturday, the Anderson Co. Coroner’s Office of the Coroner released the name of a man who died a month after a motorcycle wreck.

The coroner said that on Monday, October 14, around 3:30 p.m., they received a call for a man hit by a car on Old Pendleton Rd. in Easley.

Anderson Co. Fire, EMS, Medshore EMS, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol also responded to the scene.

The victim, Sanford Welborn, 57, was taken to Prisma Hospital in Greenville, but succumbed to his injuries on Nov. 9 at 2:35 a.m.

The coroner said Welborn pulled out into the roadway on his motorcycle and was hit by an oncoming vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was thrown from the motorcycle, the coroner said.

Motorcyclist Dies After Collision with Animal in Easley, SC

Last August, another motorcycle crash in Easley, SC, resulted in death after the rider hit an animal in the road:

An Easley man died after his motorcycle hit an animal in the road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

It happened around 10 p.m. on Aug. 21 on Lawrence Bridge Road near the intersection of Plantation Road, troopers said.

The coroner said Jarrett Phillips, 27, of Easley died Monday afternoon at Greenville Memorial Hospital from blunt force injuries.

Troopers said Phillips was traveling north and crashed after hitting an animal in the road.

Motorcyclists Killed in Spartanburg County, SC

There have also been an unusually high number of motorcycle fatalities in Spartanburg, SC, in recent months.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Spartanburg, SC

A motorcyclist was killed last week in Spartanburg, SC after colliding with a pickup truck that, according to the news report, turned out in front of the motorcyclist:

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says a motorcyclist is dead after a crash Friday evening in Spartanburg County.

We’re told that just after 5:45 p.m., one person driving a 2011 Dodge pickup truck was trying to turn onto South Carolina Highway 11 northbound near Brown Arrow Circle from a private driveway.

Troopers say a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on Highway 11 and hit the pickup truck.

The coroner’s office tells us the motorcyclist died. The truck’s driver was not injured…

The Spartanburg County Coroner has identified the motorcyclist as 28-year-old Jacob Nathaniel Constance.

Motorcyclist Killed in Spartanburg Crash

In December of last year, a motorcyclist was killed in Spartanburg, SC, after striking a tree:

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office says one person died in a crash Saturday night.

Officials say 58-year-old Cliff Julian Case Jr. crashed near Cedarcrest Drive and Compton Drive in Spartanburg. He was pronounced dead just after 8:45 p.m.

Spartanburg, SC, Motorcyclist Killed

In November of last year, there was a fatal crash at the intersection of Bomar Avenue and South Church St.:

A motorcyclist is dead after a crash, according to the Spartanburg Police Department.

Officers responded to a crash around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Bomar Avenue and South Church Street.

Police said the crash involved a 2016 Nissan Maxima and a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

According to police, the Nissan was attempting to make a left turn onto Bomar Avenue from South Church Street, while the motorcycle was traveling north on South Church Street towards Bomar Avenue.

The Nissan turned left in front of the motorcycle, causing it to crash into the Nissan in the middle of the intersection, police said.

Officers said the motorcyclist was ejected, but died on scene, and was not wearing a helmet.

The coroner has identified the motorcyclist as Billy Keith Stevens, 53, of Roebuck.

The driver of the Nissan was not injured, police said, and was charged with failure to yield right of way.

Motorcyclist Killed in Boiling Springs, SC

Last October, a motorcyclist was killed in Boiling Springs, SC, after a collision with an SUV:

BOILING SPRINGS, S.C. —

One person is dead after a motorcycle and SUV collided in Boiling Springs.

South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers say the crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Highway 9 near Midland Drive.

They tell us a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was driving south on Highway 9. The SUV was going north, when it tried to turn left. That’s when both vehicles collided.

Officials say the motorcyclist died. That person’s name has not been released yet. We’re told the driver and two passengers in the SUV were uninjured.

Several people have also been killed after motorcycle crashes in and around Greenville, SC, in recent months.

Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on I-385 in Greenville, SC

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on I-385 in Greenville, SC, this month:

The Greenville County coroner’s office has identified a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash.

Officials responded to a deadly crash along the Interstate 85 and Interstate 385 interchange Friday afternoon.

The coroner said the crash occurred at Exit 36A, which is I-385 south to I-85 north.

The right exit ramp had been closed and has since reopened, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

The coroner identified the victim as 44-year-old Angel David Urbina Rivera of Duncan, South Carolina.

Officials say Rivera was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Motorcyclist Killed in Fountain Inn, SC Crash

A motorcyclist died in a crash in December in Fountain Inn, SC:

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – A motorcyclist died early Friday morning after colliding with a vehicle in Fountain Inn, according to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner identified the victim as 51-year-old James Ray Alexander of Fountain Inn. According to a release, the crash happened at around 6:19 Friday morning while Alexander was driving north along S. Woods Drive.

Alexander was pronounced dead on scene, the coroner confirmed.

Fatal Motorcycle Collision in Greenville, SC

Last year, a motorcyclist was killed in Greenville, SC, when they struck the rear of a dump truck before being hit by other vehicles:

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – One person has died in a fatal motorcycle collision Wednesday night on Interstate 85.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office responded to I-85 northbound lanes near mile marker 52. Due to the crash, two lanes were shut down and traffic was backed up for miles.

Upon arrival, investigators pronounced the motorcyclist, 50-year-old Travis Emil Jones, of Wellford, dead at the scene.

South Carolina Highway Patrol said the motorcycle hit the back of a dump truck before being hit by five other vehicles around 11:40 p.m.

Motorcyclist Killed in Greenville, SC

In December, a woman was killed in Greenville, SC after losing control of her bike:

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A Spartanburg County woman was killed Sunday evening in a motorcycle wreck, according to officials.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said at around 7:06 p.m. Sunday that Erin Bochette, 28, of Wellford, was driving a motorcycle east on Woodruff Road near Woodruff Industrial Lane when she lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected. She was then hit by another vehicle.

Bochette was pronounced dead at the scene. An external examination has been ordered in her death. The wreck remains under investigation by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office and Greenville Police Department.
